This section provides guidance on how to create (or update) your mission, vision, and values.

Some companies have both a mission statement and a vision statement. Others use just one or the other. There isn’t a right or wrong way!

The Difference Between a Vision and Mission Statement

A vision statement describes an ideal future state that your company is striving to achieve. A mission statement describes the aims and values (the purpose) of an organization. While there is a difference, as you look at examples you will notice that many “vision statements” sound like “mission statements”, and the terms are sometimes even used interchangeably.

A mission statement describes what your company does. A vision statement describes where you are going or what your highest long-term goal is.

Your Values

Your values indicate what is important to your company and the qualities of your actions.
